For this blog, you will be working with a partner in creating a myth about Deposit. You can come up with a story about how the town was created or any heroic figures who may have been a part of Deposit's ancient history. Use the myth of the Monkey King from our class readings and Gene Luen Yang's American Born Chinese for examples.
After writing the myth, you will create a graphic version of the story in at least three comic book frames. Artwork is due Monday, 3/4/13.
Your myth should be at least 300-400 words, and must be posted by 3pm Friday (**signed by both partners**).

ReplyDeleteBack in the day when Mr. Burch was just a wee little baby the town of deposit was made by an awesome all powerful wizard ruler in charge of all thing living and/or dead……..named…….Mr. Tombasco. Mr. Tombasco made the town by mixing some potions, using the remains of the potion that he had used to make the last town. (What he didn’t realize was that the potion that he had was from a bad town.)
ReplyDeleteMr. T looked liked your normal wizard he had a long white beard, a pointed hat, and a comic book collection of batman. When he made the town he also made a superhero named Vlad. Vlad looked like he just got out of the gym after three years of being in there. So yea he looks scary. ( but he’s a nice guy.) Vlad would always save the day when it came to fighting common evil like robbers or thief’s. then one day he got so bored that he went to Mr. T and said “ Make me an evil villain to fight while im waiting for other evil to occur.” The great wizard responded with “Yes I will make you a giant to fight in your spare time.”
The giant was 11 feet tall and was just like Vlad. But the giant was named Steve. Steve had a weapon. It was a huge magical mustache. It could shoot lasers from every hair in it. The first time they did battle Vlad was not victorious. Since he died the wizard had to revive him. Then the next Vlad some how defeated the giant and stole his mustache and used it for good. Then the good Vlad decided to go and cut of a random babies head. It just happened to Mr. burch. Just kidding he didn’t do that because the wizard Mr. T told him not do that. He like the wee little baby.
Teacher By Day, Batman by Night
ReplyDeleteOn one sunny Sunday after Mr. Raphael Tombasco finished his daily comic book reading. He imagined one thing he wanted to be, Batman and fell asleep. When he woke up he found it strange that his Honda had turned into a Batmobile made by GM. He went outside and saw he was in Binghamton, but that wasn’t right he hopped in the Batmobile and drove back to GCS to finish his F block English class. When he got to Gotham City he found the town was in ruins. His favorite student Hon Jollo had destroyed the town. Raphael then found his partner in crime, Tredwell Burch. Treadwell had power similar to the Hulk. He had the power to transform into Treadbad and to Treadmad. His secret identity was Mr. Burch.
Raphael and Treadwell had a mission. Their mission was to rebuild Gotham City renaming it Deposit, along with destroying Hon Jollo. Mr. Spaulding was the Joker and the antagonist. He blew up everything in the town with the help of Hon Jollo. When Raphael decided to build the bridge in town, the Joker hired Hon Jollo and AT double H to take it apart piece by piece. This mission was a success. Raphael built men out of wood that was found in the bottom of the river, he called the men Lumberjacks. Mr. Spaulding said this was a bad idea. He hired Hon Jollo to assassinate all of the Lumberjacks. This mission was a failure, the Lumberjacks hacked off all of his limbs and he fell into the river. In honor of this success Raphael decided to rename the school’s mascot the Lumberjacks and change the name of the town to Deposit.
Raphael had everything built and everyone was about ready to move into town when Mr.Spaulding decided to invade Deposit. Mr.Spaulding hired Baby Melo, Sue, and AT double H to help assist him in destroying the town again. During the battle Raphael turned into Batman, and Treadwell turned into Hulk. This battle was going to be hard. The Hulk fought Baby Melo all on his own. Baby Melo defeated Treadmad, now he was on to Treadwell’s final form Tredbad. Baby Melo had so much anger built up from when Treadwell had assigned him so much homework that he was angry. Baby Melo defeated Mr. Burch, as he fell off of the mountain into the Delaware River. Raphael was distracted screaming NO while this happened. Mr. Spaulding, Sue , and AT double H attacked Raphael. At this moment Raphael was angry, he jumped up and sent his army of wooden Lumberjacks after all of them, The Lumberjacks had killed AT double H. Sue and Mr.Spaulding only survived by the little strength they had left. They attacked Raphael and he sentenced them to be his prisoners. Sue was sent to the new school, while Mr. Spaulding turned into a teacher. Raphael became the English teacher for Deposit so he could look after Mr. Spaulding and his evil amounts of homework. As for Treadwell, Raphael later fished him out of the river and made him the new Social Studies teacher. Raphael is the English teacher by day and turns into Batman at night to protect the small village of Deposit.

Long, long, long, long ago, there was a man named Raphael Charles Tombasco. He was a wanna be Batman. All of his students put him down, and told him that he was not cool enough to be Batman because he made them suffer through Shakespeare. Every night Raphael would go home and cry him self to sleep. One night after crying himself to sleep, a transformation happened. Raphael woke up thinking that he was normal, but he was wrong.

One day Mr. Burch was playing as The Penguin and Mr. Burch pushed Raphael off of the top of the school, on accident. Raphael started screaming but soo noticed that he was flying. Raphael came back and kicked Mr. Burch off of the building, severely injuring him so he could not teach.
Raphael walked into the school, thinking that everyone would recognize him. He soon realized that it was Saturday and he set the school alarms off. Soon enough, the police came and arrested, and forced Raphael to give up his identity. That is when Raphael Batman became Mr. Tombasco, the english teacher of Deposit Central School. Raphael hangs portraits of what he calls "the glory days", and his old life. Everyone thinks that he is just obsessed with Batman, but little do they know, he once was

DeleteA long, long time ago there was a nation called Depositopia, it was the size of modern day New York State. This nation was the most technologically advanced than any other country on earth today. By the time of the Roman Empire the natives of Depositopia were already making flying cars and space travel something that even the poorest person could afford. Depositopia conquered all nearby tribes very swiftly, not one battle lasted longer than an hour.
ReplyDeleteDepositiopia was founded by a man named “Old Man Jones”. Old Man Jones was an average person who invented a time machine in his backyard in the year 2059. Old Man Jones traveled back in time to 567BC when the only people who lived in the area were un-educated and did not know anything about the rest of the world.
On his journey, Old Man Jones brought many things from his time. He taught the natives how to use these things. Within a few years a town started called Jonestown named after the man who founded it...Old Man Jones. The town flourished with about five thousand people, major electronic factories and a military off about one thousand men.
After conquering all of the nearby areas, they renamed the town Depositopia, for it perfection of arts, music, science, literature and all other basic skills. The citizens of Depositopia, Depositopians, were as what we would see as normal today.
About thirty years later, Old Man Jones passed away, leaving Depositopia without a ruler. A scholar named Tombascus XVI, Old Man Jones’ adopted son and ancestor of the modern day Mr. Tombasco. Tombascus XVI was responsible for making Depositopia what it is today, he sold the women and children into slavery and made everyone pay outragous taxes.
The nation fell into turmoil and surrcomed to corruption, leading to people creating riots. One of the rioters, who’s name we do not know of, found Depositopia’s plasm weapon stockpile, and launched them all across the nation, destroying the entire Northern Hemisphere. One of the few remaining people, Burchoucus, Tombascus’ former best friend, created the small town of Deposit, in memory of all of them people who had died in Depositopia.
Many years later the Northern Hemisphere had grown back to what it is today. By the time Christopher Columbus had so called “discovered” America, everything was back to normal.

ReplyDeleteIn the year 1250 A.D the town of Deposit was a desolate waste. There was not a man, woman, child, or creature in Deposit. Deposit was full of magma and ash. There were tons of trees and no roads. All of that changed in the year 1251 A.D.
ReplyDeleteIt all started in Ynattirb , which is present day Antarctica. The weather was getting warmer. There were lots of glaciers, some big some small. There was one glacier that was humungous. It sat firmly on top of a mountain.
Every day the temperature would rise 25 degrees and every day the glacier would get more loose from the mountain. Then on July 1250 A.D., it happened. The glacier rolled down the big mountain at a speed of 2,000 mph. It smoothed out the ground and knocked down all the trees. It even smoothed the trees down on the ground. That's right; the ground is made of flattened trees.
That glacier not only made it possible for roads but for rivers too. When the glaacier went down a hole really hard, it caused the water from the ground to come out. But what about the magma and lava? Well, when the glacier came to Deposit, it was pretty cold. So, it cooled the ground and everything else.
When the people from Hancock and Windsor saw what happened to Deposit, they were happy. They called up Tarzan in Africa and asked him to bring all his gorilla friends to come and clean up the land. So Tarzan and his ape friends came and swung into Deposit and straightened things out. The gorillas paved roads and moved trees that weren't flattened and were still on the road. Tarzan directed what gorilla did what. After that, people started to settle in Deposit. The gorillas helped the people build their houses. After the gorillas and Tarzan helped the people they went back to Africa. That is how Deposit came to be.

A long time ago there was a kingdom called Mordred. It was ruled by an evil king named Yon-Yon. Their rival kingdom, Flowertown, was ruled by a woman by the name of Nutmeg.
ReplyDeleteNutmeg and Yon-Yon had a rivalry that went all the way back to 8th grade when Nutmeg cheated on Yon-Yon and broke his heart. This made Yon-Yon turn evil. Now, 40 years later, Yon-Yon still hates Nutmeg and wants his revenge.
One quiet day last summer Yon-Yon decided to take his army and try to take over the beautiful kingdom of Flowertown. He didn’t get to kill Nutmeg like he was hoping to, but instead he destroyed half of Flowertown. Now, Nutmeg wants her revenge. Thus, the story begins.
It was a sunny afternoon in Flowertown on March 20th. Nutmeg assembled her army of 4,000 soldiers and headed off to the disgusting, dark, kingdom of Mordred. Yon-Yon was not expecting this attack at all. The armies’ clashed and slowly Nutmeg’s army started to get the upper hand. Her troops were too much for the kingdom of Mordred and her army defeated Yon-Yon. Nutmeg’s troops took all of the dead bodies and deposited them into the ground and threw them into the Delaware River. After they deposited the dead bodies under the ground, Nutmeg decided to build a new kingdom right there in Mordred. Of course the whole kingdom was destroyed so they had to build the new one right over top of the dead bodies. They renamed the kingdom Deposit because of this.
Nutmeg made Deposit a beautiful, wonderful, and magnificent place to live. People started to come visit from a big city about 160 miles away. They came up and built nice homes and stayed for 6 weeks out of the whole year and think they know everything. This new civilians were called Citiots.
Nutmeg also created a good sports program for Deposit Central School where the softball team steals all of the school’s money and the baseball team gets nothing.
Deposit has turned into a great place to live because of Nutmeg defeating the evil Yon-Yon. She did it and created the beautiful town of Deposit along the Delaware River.

On Pluto was this amazing secret society that no one knew about, not even on Earth. They called themselves “ The Awkwardly Super-Criminal Organization,” and only girls worked there, to rid the work area of unnecessary drama. The ASCO gave each of their girls necklaces that held wondrous power. There were three leaders of ASCO. Nexus, had the power to control the winds, Skylark controlled the water, and Nightshade controlled the earth, like the dirt and terrain.
They decided to travel to Earth to make themselves known and to find the last worldly power, fire. They hitched a ride with Spock in his Star trek mobile, the Starship Enterprise.
They aimed for Alaska, but they completely missed. You know how great two blondes and one brunnette are at driving, even with Spock helping them out. They crash-landed on a barren, brown, boring area. They left Spock to fix the ship and went to observe their surroundings.
They walked through the barren lands and saw what looked like a path stomped into the ground, and thinking that nothing was amiss, they followed it. Out in the distance they saw a marvelous creature they’ve only heard of in fairy tales. “Unicorns” they whispered in unison. Right in front of them were unicorns, how they got there they had no idea. But they found out later after talking to the rare beasts that the unicorns were townspeople, changed by the evil dictator, Cerverus. He also had the last worldly power!
I'm a horrible story teller children. So, after a while, they catch him and chop his head off, he loses all his power when he dies, all the unicorns are people again. The unicorn people were so thankful that they fed their heros all their food, like pizza, chicken, burgers. Surprised by the unicon peoples’ willingness to share the only thing keeping them alive, Nightshade built ditches, Skylark filled them with pure water, Nexus cleared the land while Nightshade planted trees and flowers to show their appreciation.
The three heros walked back to Spock, who fixed the Enterprise. They climbed on and told Spock of their story and how they saved the land of Deposit, which means, in their language, " land of food and beasts."

Many many moons ago; a town named Deposit was formed. It is actually a really long story, but this is the much more exciting and way shorter version, so listen very closely.
ReplyDeleteIt all started with one girl; Demington Roty. She was a good girl who fell for a bad boy, that was headed in the wrong direction.
Sarry Hyles was pursuing another gal, the evil, Saylor Twift. She was a dirty, nasty, bad mamma-jamma. The day Demington heard that they made their relationship Faceboook official, she cried so many tears she formed the Delaware river. Her sobbing went on and on until the valley was formed.
When Demington heard of Sarry’s fourth nipple, she wanted to dedicate a town after him, and his uniqueness. She thought he was a beautiful creature. She called it Deposit because that’s where she would deposit all of her love for Sarry.
Saylor moved in after Demington was all done building Deposit, and all hell broke loose. There was an epic battle to the death, and whoever won, had Sarry’s heart. It was an all out brawl. Demington was a scrapper, and sliced off Saylor’s head! It plummeted to the ground and formed Oquaga Lake. Saylor’s hair spread across the valley fertilizing Deposit’s corn and wheat fields. Now that Saylor was out of the way Sarry was all Demington’s.
After Saylor’s death, Sarry Hyles moved into Deposit, and the first thing he did was visit Demington. He brought her a bouquet of trees, cut down by only the finest of the Deposit Lumberjacks, to express his love for her. They really were a beautiful couple.
Soon after Sarry and Demington got hitched they had many children. They eventually created a school for all their little Demys, and Sarry Jrs. They named it Deposit Central School.

Raphael Returns
One day a cyclops invaded the school. It’s name was Mrs. Rajner. It came into the school and terrorized everyone and everything. She tortured the kids but Raphael, A.K.A Batman, would put an end to it. Raphael went and found his Batman costume. He put it back on and felt like he was the brand new Batman. He went and faced off with Mrs. Rajner. They fought to the death, but Raphael got badly wounded. He came back and defeated the cyclops though. Raphael didn’t want to give up his costume. He was getting crazy with power. Finally he threw out his Batman costume but he laughed and cried at the same time. To this day that is why Mr. T cries and laughs at the same time.

In the past there was a man that went down in history as never having been in existence. This man was named Jack The Invincible, and was the most powerful man alive. When he was born from a box, it was said that the gods themselves trembled in fear. When he was born there was a prophecy that had told of a boy that had great power and would kill the great evil that would one day come to there town of Deposit.
The young boy went on in life never knowing of the prophecy that would haunt his destiny. Jack was a teenager now and had mastered all the forms of all fighting styles. One day when Jack was walking down a street a dark cloud come over the town. Jack had felt a great evil energy coming from it, so he ran to the mayor and said that the cloud had a great villain inside it. The mayor laughed at him, but suddenly the cloud opened up, and a flash of lightning came down. There was a massive explosion and in the middle of it there was a man that said one thing, “I will kill you all, now DIE.” Then in a flash of green energy Jack was sent flying into a tree and was knocked out. When he woke up the town was gone. The town was destroyed and the only thing he saw was a crater in the ground. Jack stayed there at the center of the crater and all of a sudden he heard a voice that said to get everyone back, he would have to get to the great sages.
The first sage that Jack would have to find would be Jared, the most powerful of the sages, and he would be Jack’s teacher, showing him how to control his inner power. The sage would be located on a mountain top, named The Throat of The World, because it is the biggest mountain on the planet. Jack went out on his journey to find the three sages. When Jack finally made it to the bottom of the mountain he met a man that did not give a name but said there is only one way to get to the top. Jack did not pay attention to the man and continued up the path. He followed the path until it stopped at a rock wall that went straight up. Jack noticed that the wall was impossible to climb and went back to the man. The man asked, “Did you make it?” Jack said that he wanted to know the right path to take. The man side two words to Jack, “So fly.” And lifted off of the ground and said “Come on and fly”. Jack said to the man that he could not fly, when the man said that he will train him but for right now just focus your chi and force all the energy towards the ground. Soon enough Jack was flying to the top.
He flew to a butcher’s and bought the world’s largest hot dog. He then took this hot dog and put it in the throat of the world. He triumphantly said “The world won’t hate us any more, it was just hungry!”. Then a bunch of rabbits flew towards Jack. But these rabbits had eaten dynamite. They started to spontaneously explode everywhere on Jack, covering him in rabbit guts. Jack now went back to the man and the man told jack his name is Jared. After a couple of months of training, Jack and Jared set out to find the god temple where a mortal can become a god. When they finally found the temple Jack was amazed that the temple was the size of a mountain. When they went inside they saw it was an empty room with a strange picture in the middle of the floor. Jack went to the middle and Jared started the chant to make Jack into a god. A huge golden beam came from the sky straight to jack. After it was all over Jack went back to the crater and brought the town and the people back, but just then the evil came back and Jack used all of his power to defeat it.
When it was all over Jack decided to make everyone forget about him and the evil. After that Jack went to claim his place with the gods forever.
One day, long long ago on the island of Hedgi was a young boy named Haj. He thought that he was perfect and better than everyone else. He also thought that he could do way more than everyone else and he was stronger. Haj left the island, swam across the ocean and found what is now the United States. He could not speak the language that the Americans spoke so he hoped to to run into any of them. The Americans did not know of any others lands other than the U.S. so Haj had to pretend he was American so that they didn't think that he was attacking. He got a business suit and pretended to be American.
ReplyDeleteAs Haj took his journey around the U.S. he stayed on the coast. He was only used to be surrounded by water and wanted it to stay the way. He had never seen so much land. After 30 days of walking and many mosquito bites Haj found something. It was glowing like a star and had looked like it fell from the sky. He heard a voice come from behind him. It was a short quiet hello from behind the bushes. A he turned he saw a bright green figure move quickly. It wasn't an animal. It was an alien. Small, but tough the alien jumped towards Haj and started to attack.
Niether one of them had ever seen anything like each other. Haj punched the alien in the mouth. The alien back away and started to run. It quickly jumped into the glowing object and flew away. Haj was scared. Haj kept his journey around the U.S. step by step hoping not to see anything like that again.
As haj finally got around the Eastern coast if the U.S. he saw another object. This time brighter and bigger. Haj did not want to be afriad this time around. He walked right up the object and opened the door. Out came two green aliens. They both told Haj that if he didn't get off their turf they would curse him forever. They were trying to build a town where humans did not live. They had magical powers and wanted a town there. Haj refused to leave because he had been walking so long and wanted a break. The aliens said that if he wanted to stay than he would be stuck there forever with no getting out.
As Haj started to yell, one of the aliens raised his finger and said "There will be a town, and you will be stuck under it forever!" Houses, stores, and roads began to appear. All of a sudden Haj got stuck under one of the roads. The aliens warned him that he would be stuck forever, and now he was. The aliens thought they would call thier new town Deposit.
Once upon a time, in the town of Deposit there was a god who was a lumberjack named Gregory. He roamed the forests looking for a lady friend and could not find anything, but he found a nice companion who was a cow, her name was Bennita. Greg had nothing better to do than cut down trees all day and chew and hang out with Bennita.
ReplyDeleteBennita had a special power where she could talk to lumberjacks, not humans but lumberjacks. Anyway another cow like Bennita but the male version, Ben, wanted to date Bennita but Gregory said no because he loved her and Gregory fought to the death, just kidding Gregory ran over Ben with this pickup truck and Bennita and Greg were fine. Then Gregory secretly made a hamburger fest with Ben’s meat and they had a date.
After this Bennita told Greg that she had feelings for him and wanted to populate Deposit so Gregory touched Bennita's hoof and a baby Lumberjack cow was born. He had the head of a cow and the body of a lumberjack and he was strong but had really bad teeth because he was born with the bad habit of chewing.
After years and years of all these lumberjack cows having babies this is what brought Deposit to the population we have now. This brought Deposit to the way it is now, Bennita and Gregory made beer and country music and now everyone in Deposit drinks beer and listens to country music. Unless they’re underage of course, then they can’t drink beer, but they probably do anyway. Bennita and Gregory live up in the forest of the Gods now and watch down on the town they made that’s prospering every day. If you look up in the sky you should thank Gregory for making the great town he made today, still known as Deposit.

Back in the day when the big ole cherry logs floating down the river, there was a town by the name of Deposit, NY. It was a very small town but with large production and great rewards.
ReplyDeleteThe was a guy named, Billy-jean. He was a six foot four two hundred sixty four pounder with a size twelve foot. He used to pick up the logs and put them on the raft himself. Billy-jean had a family of eight kids. There names were, Boby, Lucy, Alex, Timmy, Tommy, Elise, Jeff, Susie! They all played an important role on the river. Boby makes the orders of when the logs need to be shipped and received. Timmy is a very lazy guy, he likes to feed the dogs and sit on his a**. Lucy and Susie are some stuck up Brittany Speers wanna bes. But they do clean the house and everything else. Tommy and Jeff are workers on the log yard and helping their dad take logs to the river to make some bank. Alex does all the chores around the house all day long. He does the dishes, washes the laundry and feeds the chickens an milks the cow. Alex also rakes the yard picks the peaches from the wonderful peach tree and also makes the apple pie for dessert every night! All Elise cares about is her self her make up her pet pig, but she does cook the dinner.
Every sunday the boys, Timmy, Alex, Tommy, Jeff, Boby, and the daddy Billy-jean all go on a grand ole huntin trip. They would use some spears and slingshots to shoot whatever they would see. But little did they know Elise’s pet pig ran away because she smelled and wonderd up onto the hill that morning and walked right under Tommy’s tree stand. Tommy leaped from the tree and stabbed the pigy in the neck thinking it was a deer. Once he relized it was the pig. They all decided to say it was a random pig an Elise’s pig just ran away. So then Alex decided the whipp up some classic APPLE BACON PIE!!.
